Trail: Dirt path, boardwalk, steep stairs.
Trail Distance: 1.4km one way, 30 minute walk
The path down to South Florencia is along the Willowbrae Trail which used to be part of a sea to land route that linked Tofino and Ucluelet before the road was built in 1942. After about half an hour on the flat dirt trail the path forks into two. To the left a dirt path goes to Halfmoon Bay and to the right a steep set of stairs leads down to South Florencia. The sandy beach is truely stunning. It is generally less busy then most of the other beaches and is very close to Ucluelet. South Florencia and Florencia Bay are divided by a river that is not usually crossable. The beach can be walked for about an hour and a half before reaching the river.
Parking: Small parking area. No RV's, campers, or bus's.
How to get there: From Ucluelet you follow the main highway out of town for roughly 5km until you get to Willowbrae Road (left turn). Follow the short dirt road up to the small parking lot for the trail.
